silly monkey found one of my mom’s old books.  it’s called something like child’s first nursery rhymes (i say “something like” b/c i really can’t remember the title and it’s been a long and crappy day and i’m too lazy to get up and go upstairs to get it).  it has about 15 different nursery rhymes.  some i’ve heard of – humpty dumpty & the three blind mice, and some i have NEVER heard of – something about cock horse (????) and a girl and her cat, who is not called a cat, if you catch my drift (again with the too lazy to go get the book).  each story is illustrated.  most of the illustrations contain animals.  most of the animals are cats.  one of the first stories is…

three little kittens,
they lost their mittens,
and they began to cry,
oh, mother dear,
we sadly fear
our mittens we have lost.
wha?   lost your mittens,
you naughty kittens!
then you shall have no pie.
meow, meow, meow.
you shall have no pie.

the three little kittens,
they found their mittens,
and they began to cry,
oh, mother dear,
see here, see here,
our mittens we have found.
what?  found your mittens,
you darling kittens!
then you shall have some pie.
meow, meow, meow.
you shall have some pie.

and then five pages later is a drawing of a cat…

mommy, that cat does not have mittens.
ok.
so it does not get any pie.

and then five pages after that…

mommy, that cat doesn’t have mittens either.
i see.
that cat lost it’s mittens.
oh yea.  so what does that mean?
it means that cat doesn’t get any pie either. but that dog can have some pie b/c dogs don’t wear mittens.

i just love how silly monkey just has to be silly monkey to make my crappy days turn into extra special days.
