ONE DAY WHEN HE WAS EATING A COOKIE, HE OFFERED ME A BITE. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THAT. THE POOR GUY’S SO FRIGHTENED OF GERMS, IT COULD DARN NEAR HAVE BEEN A PROPOSAL…

hey, silly monkey.  what kind of cookies should we bake today?  chocolate with chocolate chips?
how about grandma ribbon cookies?
grandma ribbon cookies?
yes.  with grey sprinkles.
well, that’s a lovely idea!
** proud grin ** yea.

so we scoured our local stores for a cancer ribbon cookie cutter, ala THIS, but alas, there were none to be found.  we did find a giant bucket of holiday cutters, at joann, which included the elusive train cutter, so we snapped those up (with my 40% off coupon, of course).

so we’ll just make train cookies, then?
and grandma ribbon cookies.
but… they don’t have a cutter for the ribbon.
we can make them.
by hand?
yes.  with grey sprinkles.  do they have grey sprinkles?

the monkey was adamant, so we located the grey (er… silver) sprinkles and added them to our cart, along with a set of cookie decorating “markers” (which are crap, don’t buy them).  silly monkey spotted a thomas the train magazine, so that also made it into the basket.

once we were home, i whipped up a batch of withLOVEfromSCRATCH dough and glaze.  silly monkey & i spent some time cutting out trains and forming ribbons.  monkey also thought it would also be fun to flatten a circle of dough and poke holes in it.  and so he did.

once the cookies were ready, we (i) popped them into the oven.

during the next 10 minutes, silly monkey and i danced around the kitchen and had a silly-face-off.  he won, of course…

ten minutes to cool brought us to decorating time.  first, we tried the “markers”…

and, yea, like i said – don’t waste your hard earned cash on these mothermuffins!!  so we switched to glaze and covered our grandma ribbons in grey sprinkles (and some with orange halloween sprinkles.  and others with red and green christmas sprinkles.)…

so what do you think?
they’re beautiful!
should we eat ’em?
YES!!!

and so we did.
