i got a day-late mama’s day gift today, from my sister, Mich.  she probably wasn’t going to get me anything, until she became so sick & tired of me talking about making my own fizzy drinks that she just gave in and wrapped one up.  or it could have gotten pushed over the top when i made her watch youtube videos and tutorials on the williams sonoma website.  OR she might have been weak listening to me exclaim “i want a soda maker” every hour or so.  regardless, the carbonating princess wand is mine.  ALL MINE!!!

DAY SIXTY TWO:  behold.  the twist ‘n sparkle

OMGosh!  i was so excited that immediately washed the thing to death & fizzed up some raspberry lemonade.  and then when that was gone and i got over my sugar induced stomach ache, i carbonated some blueberry pomegranate juice.  um… YUM!!!

i have been researching soda streams for quite some time.  i’m not a soda drinker (and it is SODA, people!!!), but love bubbles in my drinks – so refreshing!  however, most soda streams do not recommend you carbonate anything other than water, so you’re left to flavor it after you fizz it up.  and that just adds artificial coloring, flavor, etc.  but with the twist ‘n sparkle, you can sparkle up just about anything that’s not pulpy & dairy – including alcoholic beverages.  it really injects just the right amount of bubbles into my beverage.

my only gripe is that the set only comes with three co2 chargers, meaning i could only carbonate a max of 3 liters of water.  replacements from isi cost $20 for 24.  not terrible, but it’s definitely not cost-effective to use on a regular basis, which i intend to do.  i have looked all over the interwebs and have found lower priced co2 chargers that others rave about.  cost for those?  dirt cheap.  ok, maybe not dirt cheap, but certainly not a buck a pop (more like 40 or so cents). (but, if isi wants to drop a bucket full of co2 chargers on my doorstep, i’m totally ok with that!)

that aside, i am in LOVE with this thing.  i really can’t say enough good about it.  really.  it’s easy to use, easy to clean and does the job it’s marketed to do.  regardless of the cost of actually using the thing, i’ll continue to give this little princess sparkle wand a glowing review.  plus, silly monkey thinks it’s pretty cool, too.

and my sister?  well, she is probably regretting her gift to me b/c i make her watch every time i carbonate something and then make her taste it. but hey, what are siblings for, right?
